This bird wants to remain perfect

Scoop

At last, I have achieved perfection!

For two years, week after week, my attempts to accurately predict the outcome of high school football games always had a flaw or two — or three or four.

No more!

Last week, this brainy bird called the winner on all 10 games I was confronted with. Such soaring success upped my winning rate to just under 75 percent for the season.

One could win a lot of money with such a record, but I don't advise it.

My pearly prognostications are strictly for entertainment purposes.

With seven games on the docket in Week 10, permit me to spread my wings and fly. Finally, I feel proud as an eagle.

CATHEDRALPREPat BUTLER — The Golden Tornado's last-ditch effort to reach the WPIALplayoffs fell short on Gardner points, but they can close with a bang if they can upset the once-beaten and playoff-bound Ramblers.Butler will hang in there, but the visitors are riding a seven-game winning streak for a reason.

Prep, 32-18.KITTANNINGat MARS — So much for winning your league and getting a good seed. The Planets are facing a powerful ground game in Kittanning, but Billy Bair and company run the ball pretty good themselves. Look for a barnburner.

Mars, 24-22.KARNSCITYat FORESTHILLS — A perfect regular season is on the line for the Gremlins, but they're facing a tough task on the road against a high-powered attack. This game will help prepare the Gremlins for the playoffs, but it will come at a price.

Forest Hills, 23-15.MONITEAUat WILMINGTON— While the Warriors are riding a three-game losing streak, the host Greyhounds have been on cruise control since winning a tight season-opener over Ford City. Simply put, Wilmington has too much.

Wilmington, 26-10.WARREN at SLIPPERYROCK — If the Rockets win, they may be headed to the District 10 playoffs after an 0-5 start. This is a much-improved team that's overcome a lot of injuries, but Warren appears to be a little bit better.

Warren, 21-15.SALTSBURGatUNION — The Golden Knights close the season with a Thursday night special — and their third win of the season.

Union, 17-14.A-CVALLEYat REYNOLDS — It's been a rough year for my feathered friends, the Falcons. Unfortunately, it's going to end in a rough way.

Reynolds, 23-8.Last week:10-0Season: 73-25
