Weyman 90th birthday
Edward Weyman of Zelienople celebrated his 90th birthday recently with a party hosted by his children and their families in the fellowship hall of St. Peter's Reformed Church.
Weyman was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Zelienople. He married Saraellen Griffin July 5, 1941.
He has three children, Gary Weyman of North Hills, Retired Lt. Col. James Weyman of Honolulu and Sue Hamilton of Harmony. He also has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Weyman retired from the tin mill department of J&L Steel in Aliquippa after 42 years.
He is a member of the Harmony Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, AARP and the American Legion. He is also a lifelong member of St. Peter's Reformed Church, where he belongs to the Fidelity Sunday school class and has served as an elder and deacon.
A veteran of the Army Air Corps, he served in the 598th Air Engineering Space Squadron during World War II in China, Burma and India. For his service, he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with two bronze stars, the World War IIVictory Medal and a citation for traversing Burma Road.
