Butler County's great daily newspaper

This bird downright giddy about trophy

This is my time!

Butler and Seneca Valley are playing for an outside shot at the final WPIALClass AAAA playoff berth, but they're also playing for something far more important in my eyes.

They're playing for me.

The Butler Eagle Traveling Trophy — featuring a stunning portrayal of yours truly — goes to the winner of this contest. I haven't had to fly very far the past three years as Butler's succeeded in keeping me here.

It's been a while since I've gotten a view of the other side of the county.

SENECA VALLEY at BUTLER— This game has been a bit of a shootout in recent years and probably will be this time as well. Can Seneca Valley stop Nick Monteleone and the Golden Tornado passing game? Can Butler stop James Daniels and the Raider running game? Each team has struggled defensively in that particular area.Look for a competitive game — very competitive — but I like the Tornado at home.

Butler, 28-25.KNOCH at HIGHLANDS— The Knights can reach the playoffs with a win and some help from Hampton, but Highlands will prove too tough a foe to conquer on the road.

Highlands, 23-16.UNIONat KARNSCITY — The Gremlins are undefeated and unstoppable in the KSAC. They are cruising toward a top seed in the District 9 playoffs.

Karns City, 46-6.MARS at MOHAWK — Billy Bair, Josh Keil, D.J. Cannon and company rack up points against teams week after week. No exception here.

Mars, 31-17.MONITEAU at CLARION — The Warriors have dropped two straight close games to stellar opponents by being unable to finish off drives. Clarion needs to win to reach the playoffs and the Bobcats have defeated Moniteau 10 times in the past 11 years.

Clarion, 13-12.SLIPPERY ROCK at ERIE CENTRAL — What appeared to be shaping into a winless season for the Rockets a few weeks ago will turn into a three-win season tonight. Kudos to the program for holding it together.

Slippery Rock, 18-14.FREEPORT at FORD CITY — The Yellowjackets are holding out hope for the playoffs and they've been playing well of late. But, as in Knoch's case, this is a formidable obstacle to face on the road.

Ford City, 22-19.I also see Keystone defeating A-CValley 47-8, Grove City edging Greenville 23-15 and Summit Academy handling Cornell, 30-17.
