Butler Church of the NazareneThe Rev. Christ Community U.M.Members of the Consecration Weekend Leadership Team and church council Members of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Christ's OutreachTrunk or Treat will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker, Ave. Treats will be provided by church members from the trunks of their cars to the children of the community. Community LifeCommunity Life Church, McQuistion Elementary School, will host a Harvest Party for recovering addicts and their children from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Alameda Park. First BaptistFirst Baptist Church, 221 W. First English LutheranFirst English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will hold a Halloween party for all ages at 6 p.m. Sunday. Participants can sign up in the Social Room.Starting in November, the first Sunday of each month will be Good Samaritan Sunday. Saint Andrews U.P.Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St. will host its 40th annual Scottish Celebration Sunday. The 10 a.m. service will be based on the Scottish service and will include a bagpiper and "The Kirking of the Tartans". Andrew Purves, a native Edinburgh, Scotland, will be the guest preacher. Purves received degrees in philosophy and divinity from the University of Edinburgh and a Master of Theology degree from Duke Divinity School. He completed his doctorate at the University of Edinburgh. Purves was called to the faculty of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1983 and currently holds the Hugh Thomson Kerr Chair in Pastoral Theology.A soup and salad luncheon will follow the Sunday service and will include Cock-a-leekie soup and various Scottish pastries.The Property Team will be painting the K.I.C.K. room between 8 a.m. and noon Saturday.
