Wednesday — James Caccano, 48, of Butler was charged with simple assault after allegedly slapping his wife, Linda, in the face and pulling her by the arm in their home at 225½ McClain Ave. James Caccano was arraigned before District Judge Lewis Stoughton and jailed in Butler County Prison on a $5,000 no contact bond. Caccano was later switched to house arrest.2 a.m. Tuesday — Kenneth A. Mickey, 49, of Chicora was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and not using required turn signals following a traffic stop on East Brady Street.12:53 a.m. Tuesday — Matthew J. Bachman, 42, of Butler was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, not driving on the right side of the road and not obeying traffic signals following a traffic stop on Memorial Drive.5:20 p.m. Sept. 25 — A three-vehicle accident occurred on East Jefferson Street in which a car driven by Michael Brennan, 33, of Chicora struck a vehicle driven by Dana Morando, 18, of Butler which then hit a vehicle driven by Ray McDonald, 42, of Chicora. Morando received minor injuries. The other drivers were not injured. All three drivers were wearing seat belts. Brenneman was cited for following too closely.Sept. 20 — Elly May Grubjesic, 21, of Butler was charged with receiving stolen property after allegedly trying to sell stolen CDs on Sept. 19 to the CD Zone at Moraine Pointe Plaza. Michael Kay, 31, of Butler, the CDs' owner, had previously called the store giving it the list of CDs that were taken from his unlocked vehicle that was parked at the Farmers Market overnight. Although 10 CDs worth a total of $100 were recovered, an additional $275 worth of items stolen from the vehicle, a CD holder, other CDs, a gym bag with clothes and a check book, remain missing.

1 p.m. Wednesday — Wendy Lou Devore, 20, of Evans City was charged with retail theft after allegedly stealing several pieces of jewelry worth a total of $415 from Boscov's at Clearview Mall in Center Township.Tuesday — Someone stole the purse of Susan Thielbald, 52, of Butler from the employee locker room at The Bon Ton store between 5:15 and 8:55 p.m. The purse was recovered later. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.Monday — William Lowe of West Sunbury reported the theft of copper cables from a welder, copper wire from a grinder and compressor motors, copper electrical wire and a 100-foot extension cord from his garage and milk house off Division Road between 3 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Monday. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.

1:53 a.m. Saturday — Adam M. Boylan, 29, of Zelienople was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Arlington Avenue in New Castle.
