FOXBURG, Clarion County — As the leaves on the trees turn bright shades of red, orange and yellow, the citizens of Foxburg will welcome visitors to the third annual Foxburg Fall Art, Wine and Food Fest.

The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 14 on Main Street. Committee member Rosemary Kalinowsky said the small town has trimmed down the festival to be a one-day event because they have been cursed with rain on the second day in previous years.

"We're expecting about 3,000 people (to attend), which is phenomenal, because our population is only about 260,"Kalinowsky said.

Kalinowsky said more than 60 vendors will line the streets of Foxburg selling food, crafts and artwork. Festival-goers will also be encouraged to pose for a keepsake photograph next to the waterfall between the Foxburg Inn and the new hotel.

There will be plenty to keep the children busy during the day. There will be a free KidFest art activity from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., where children will create seasonal artwork to take home.

In addition to the arts and crafts, pony rides, clowns and Smokey the Bear will entertain the youngsters. There will also be a Hospitality Safety Center containing free safety information.

Local establishments are also participating in the festival by running their own unique booths. The Foxburg Volunteer Fire Department will have a 1950s Dodge brush truck on display, along with free fire prevention materials to celebrate Fire Prevention Week.

Other activities include a lollipop pull game, Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle. There is no charge for admission or parking, and a free shuttle service to and from parking areas will be offered.

"We just want people to come to our town,"Kalinowsky said.

"We're very small. ... We just do it to get people to notice us."
