1:55 p.m. Saturday — John Smith, 39, of Augusta, Ga., was charged as a felony fugitive from justice after police responded to a call about him disturbing a clerk at Four Seasons Tanning and loitering in the Greater Butler Mart parking lot. Smith is wanted out of the Georgia State Patrol Parole Office for a parole violation on drug charges. Smith was arraigned before District Judge Kelly Streib and jailed in Butler County Prison in lieu of a $500,000 bond awaiting extradition to Georgia.
8:37 a.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Ryan Mackay, 20, of Cabot was traveling on Bear Creek Road in Winfield Township when it struck a ditch and mailbox before overturning. Mackay was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The Winfield Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.Friday — Dana Opperman, 49, of Butler reported the theft of various unspecified items from a temporarily vacant residence at 311 Poppy Lane in Mercer Township between Sept. 15, 2005, and March 14, 2006. Police are investigating.Friday — A 15-year-old male was charged with theft after allegedly stealing a $600 dirt bike from the residence of Albert McKnight, 51, of Prospect between June 1 and Aug. 18.Wednesday — Sprint/Nextel reported the theft of copper bars from its Jennelle Drive site in Summit Township between 11 p.m. Sept. 3 and noon Wednesday. Anyone with information about the theft should call police at 724-284-8100.
2 a.m. Saturday — Jacqueline Jean Elick, 19, of Slippery Rock was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after an equipment violation stop on Route 208 in Springfield Township.12:45 a.m. Saturday — Ezekiel Seivers, 30, of Grove City was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Route 208 in Pine Township.
Saturday — The Butler County DUI Task Force conducted underage drinking enforcement in Saxonburg. The 23 identification checks resulted in one underage drinking arrest and three drug arrests.Friday — The Butler County DUI Task Force conducted a sobriety checkpoint in Cranberry Township. Of the 345 vehicles contacted, four traffic citations were issued and 31 warnings were issued.
