LOS ANGELES — New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush and his family appear to have accepted gifts, money and other benefits worth more than $100,000 from two marketing agents while the Heisman Trophy winner was still playing at Southern California, according to a report posted on Yahoo.com Thursday.

The report says Michael Michaels, a marketing agency investor who wanted to represent the football star, and current Bush marketing agent Mike Ornstein lavished Bush and his family with gifts while he was still at USC, each hoping to entice him to sign with them once he left school.

Bush eventually chose Ornstein, which caused a falling-out between Michaels and Bush's family.

CLEVELAND — Francisco Liriano does not have structural or ligament damage to his left arm, according to an MRI scan done Thursday on Minnesota's standout rookie pitcher.The Twins called the test results "favorable" and said in a statement that Liriano has begun a rehabilitation program with the goal of being ready for the start of the 2007 season.After missing a month because of a strained ligament near his elbow, Liriano pitched two scoreless innings in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Oakland before feeling a pop on a pitch in the third.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks told left fielder Luis Gonzalez Thursday they will not bring him back next season.The club had not been expected to exercise its $10 million option on Gonzalez for 2007. But Gonzalez had said he would be open to discussing a new deal that would allow him to return for a ninth season in Arizona.

VOORHEES, N.J. — Philadelphia Flyers center Keith Primeau retired Thursday, ending a 15-year NHL career after failing to receive clearance to play because of lingering effects from a concussion.The 34-year-old Primeau had been trying to return from an Oct. 25 concussion after a hit from Montreal's Alexander Perezhogin.
