Gremlins' 1-2 finish carries them to win

Butler's Andrew Shakely carded a 40 to help the Golden Tornado boys golf team defeat Seneca Valley 209-214 during a rainy match at Butler Country Club Tuesday.

Travis Hendell and Aaron McGarvey finished first and second, respectively, to lead the Karns City boys cross country squad (5-0) to wins over St. Marys (23-32) and host Brookville (28-29) on Tuesday.

Hendell finished with a time of 18 minutes, 49 seconds while McGarvey ran an 18:54.

In the girls meet, Sarah Young was the top Gremlins finisher, placing fourth at 25:55. Union's Lepha Logue was seventh in 26:32.
