Redbank Valley edges Gremlins boys, 6-5

Chris Harmon netted a hat trick but the Karns City boys soccer team dropped a 6-5 decision to Redbank Valley Monday in KSAC action.

The Bulldogs scored just before the half to trim their deficit to 4-3 before scoring three goals early in the second half to take the lead.

Aaron McGarvey and freshman Nick Lopresti each scored a goal for the Gremlins (3-1), who will travel to Wilmington on Thursday.

Slippery Rock 10, Sharpsville 1 — Ryan Gercken (3) and Wes Craig (2) combined for five goals in this rout.Min Woo Chung, Mike Ramirez, Matt Durso, Ryan Hyatt and Devin Hribal each added a goal in the win.Gercken, Hyatt and Craig Bicehouse contributed assists for the Rockets (3-0).

Grove City 5, Kennedy Catholic 0 — Jake Muse scored twice for the Eagles (2-0-1), while Derek Brown, Brad Graham and Sam Gargascz each had one goal.

Butler No. 1 singles player Carolyn Shetter defeated Seneca Valley's Sarah Sharrar 10-0 in the first round but then fell to Hampton's Sarah Longo 10-3 at the WPIALClass AAA Singles Sectional Monday at North Allegheny.Butler's No. 2 player, Courtney Kerr, dropped her first-round match to Knoch's Chelsea Gibson 10-3.

Jaime Daum, Rachel Wilson and Rosel Nesbit swept the singles matches as Butler defeated Shady Side Academy, 5-0 on Monday.Also winning for the Golden Tornado (7-0) were the doubles duos of Heather Santa-Jeannine Hollobaugh and Shannon Gallagher-Katie Straub.
