Robert S. Scheidemantel Sr., 89, of Ross Township, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died Aug. 1 at the Windsor Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ross Township.

Born Sept. 20, 1916, in Harmony, he was the son of Clyde A. and Helen Sloan Scheidemantel.

Mr. Scheidemantel retired from Standard Oil of Ohio, now BP, after a 42-year career in sales and marketing.

He was a member of the Sales and Marketing Executives Club and a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Robert S. Scheidemantel, Jr. and his wife, Priscilla, of Sewickley, and Paul G. Scheidemantel and his wife, Jane Boatwright, of Boxborough, Mass.; six grandchildren, Paul E. Scheidemantel, Beth Clay, Lisa Moores, Gregory and David Scheidemantel and Laura Jane Scheidemantel; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annamae Burkhart Scheidemantel, who died May 19, 2005; three brothers, John W. and William Scheidemantel and Clyde A. Scheidemantel, Jr.; and two sisters, Sarah J. Seivert and Annamae Casserly.
