8:22 p.m. Wednesday —Michael Noblit, 45, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting Cheryl Noblit, 51, during a domestic dispute as the couple was driving home from a bar.The defendant is accused of pulling into a car wash on South Monroe Street and hitting the victim in the head several times. He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $3,000 bond.9:15 a.m. Wednesday — Acar driven by Brandon Neff, 18, of Oakland Township struck a utility pole at East Jefferson and School streets.1:35 a.m. Wednesday — Larry Smith, 37, of East Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on South Cliff Street. Smith was also cited for disregarding traffic lanes12:35 a.m. Monday — Lachrishia Kornick, 26, of Freeport was arrested for DUI at West Cunningham and South Chestnut streets. She was also cited for driving without lit head lamps and taillights.
Wednesday — Police are investigating a mail scam, and are warning residents not to fall prey to the same scheme.A township resident alerted authorities after receiving a letter with four South African stamps. The letter claimed the recipient had won the lottery and a check from the U.S. Treasury that promised a large cash reward.But the letter said to cash the check, the recipient had to wire by Western Union $2,900 to a Canadian branch office.Police determined the check was fraudulent and the letter was part of the scam. Postal service officials have also reported receiving several other complaints about the same scheme.
Saturday — Five people were arrested for driving under the influence during a roving patrol by the Butler County DUI Task Force.Additionally, officers arrested four others on drug charges and another for driving under the influence of drugs.Officers issued motorists five citations for speeding, four for driving with suspended licenses, three for underage drinking, and one non-traffic citation.Also, seven citations were issued for other traffic violations and one for a seat belt violation. Officers issued 22 traffic warnings and seven seat belt warnings.
4:35 p.m. Wednesday — A pickup truck driven by Eric Miner, 35, of Connoquenessing struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle at Route 68 and Kriess Road in Connoquenessing Township.Miner, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, faces a charge of driving too fast for conditions. William Watterson, 45, of Butler was driving the SUV.4:24 p.m. Wednesday — A pickup truck driven by Joseph Hamilton, 35, of Chicora and an SUV driven by Clinton Sheakley, 63, of Butler collided at Route 422 and Game Reserve Road in Clearfield Township. Hamilton was cited for a left turn violation.5:50 a.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Thomas Clay, 48, of Prospect struck a deer on Route 19 in Lancaster Township.Wednesday — Undisclosed property was damaged in a break-in at the Muddy Creek Elementary School on East Portersville Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police did not report if anything was taken in the burglary between Aug. 23 and Wednesday.Wednesday — An unknown burglar between 9 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. forced open a door and broke into the Moose Road home of Thomas McCommon in Connoquenessing Township. Police released no other information about the investigation.11:35 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Christopher Johnston, 26, of North Washington struck a guardrail on Route 38 at the Oakland/Center Township line. Johnston was cited for several undisclosed traffic violations.Monday — About two dozen pieces of dark brown, aluminum soffit, valued at $300, were taken from the roof of an outdoor shed at the Butler Aircraft Modelers Society on Jackson Road in Clay Township. The theft occurred between Aug. 29 and Monday.Friday — A black iPod music player and case were stolen between Aug. 31 and Friday from a car at the West SlipperyRock Street home of Jennifer Dunlap in Chicora.
