BC3 golfers take 2nd in Potomac State Invitational

Knoch graduate Trevor Lindstrom carded an 84 Wednesday to lead the Butler County Community College golf team to a second-place finish at the Potomac State Invitational.

The Pioneers scored 362 as a team, 23 strokes behind champion Potomac State. Nine teams participated in the event.

Other BC3 scores included an 86 by Butler graduate Corey Young, a 94 by Karns City graduate Nathan Shirey, 98 by Slippery Rock graduate Tyler Albert and a 116 by Grove City graduate Jordon Peterson.

BC3 travels to Norvelt Golf Club Saturday for a match against Westmoreland and CCAC-Boyce.

Women's Soccer

Danielle Cooper's goal in the 53rd minute proved to be the winning goal as the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team dispatched visiting Indiana (Pa.) 2-1 in a PSAC-West game Wednesday.

Martina Hall assisted on both SRU goals, the first on a goal by midfielder Meghan McGrath which tied the game at one in the 39th minute.

Freshman goalie Lauren McManus made eight saves in the win. The Indians outshot The Rock 22-9.

SRU (3-0, 2-0) will host Bridgeport at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Men's Soccer

Ed Mocarsky recorded an unassisted goal early in Wednesday's game against West Chester, but it wasn't enough as SRU lost 2-1 in PSAC action.

The Rock, the PSAC defending champions, still remain in first place in the league with a 2-1 record.

West Chester outshot SRU 18-11. The Rock will host Shippensburg at 1 p.m. Saturday.
