Saturday — Kenneth Donohue, 41, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Cheryl Unverzagt, 42, during a domestic dispute about 10 p.m. Friday at the couple's East Pearl Street apartment.Donohue is charged with simple assault as well as possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Saturday — Five people were arrested for driving under the influence during a DUI checkpoint detail between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday on Route 356 near the Point Plaza shopping center in Butler Township.Additionally, three suspects were arrested on drug-related charges and two people were cited for underage drinking. Officers also issued 15 traffic citations and eight traffic warnings.Authorities noted that the checkpoint was the first of several similar events to be held during the holiday season as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration "Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest"campaign.

11:40 a.m. Sunday — A Butler area woman faces a felony count of retail theft after her arrest for shoplifting merchandise valued at $15.40 from a store in Center Township.Julie Ann Codispot, 40, is accused of taking the items form the Dollar General Store. Police noted that the felony charge was filed because this was Codispot's third such offense.12:30 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Samantha Gathers, 20, of Mercer struck a cow on Route 173 near Shields Road in Mercer Township. Gathers and four passengers in the car were not injured; the fate of the cow was not known this morning12:15 a.m. Sunday — Richard Rakers, 44, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on South Eberhart Road near Route 356 in Butler Township.Police said a 7-year-old girl was riding in the car when Rakers was pulled over. In addition to DUI, he is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and numerous undisclosed traffic violations.8:10 p.m. Saturday — A17-year-old boy reportedly escaped from Summit Academy in Summit Township. The boy is described as black, 6 feet, 4 inches tall and about 235 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing gray shorts, a gray T-shirt and white sneakers.Anyone with information about the boy's whereabouts is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.10:15 a.m. Saturday — A van driven by Dolores Ellenberger, 53, of Dayton, Armstrong County, and a car driven by Karen Bundy, 45, no address given, collided at Route 356 and Winfield Road in Winfield Township.Saturday — Awallet was taken between 9 and 9:30 p.m. from a car in the T.J.'s Hideaway parking lot on SpithalerSchool Road in Forward Township. Robert Bowman Jr. of Connoquenessing owns the wallet.Saturday — Someone broke four railing pillars on a porch at Nancy Gray's Beauty and Tanning Salon on Main Street in Slippery Rock. The vandalism occurred between 8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday.Saturday — A Huffy mountain bike was found at the Eat 'n Park in Center Township. The owner may claim the bike by calling state police at 724-284-8100.10:24 p.m. Friday — Derik Stewart, 23, of Center Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he tried running from police following a traffic stop at the Shop 'n Save parking lot, Pullman Square in Butler.He is charged with DUI and fleeing or attempting to elude police.Meanwhile, police also learned that Stewart was wanted stemming from a previous DUI case; he was also wanted by the county probation office. He is being held on the Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bond.11:25 a.m. Thursday — Asport utility vehicle driven by Lois Edward, 60, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, traveled into a field and struck an embankment and ditch along Route 38, near Route 58, in Eau Claire. Edward, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.Aug. 19 — Ablue, 2003 Yamaha dirt bike was stolen from a garage between Aug. 12 and 19 in a burglary at the Green Manor Road home of Jahn Hunka in Summit Township.

7:01 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Daniel Weiland, 26, of Butler struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Route 38 in Richland Township, Clarion County, about a half-mile east of Emlenton.

11:10 a.m. Saturday — Troopers nabbed a wanted drug suspect after she called police for help when a vehicle she was riding in got a flat tire on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.Katrina White, 19, of Cleveland was arrested when police learned authorities in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, had a warrant for her in connection with a drug case. She was arraigned on a fugitive from justice charge and placed in the Mercer County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond, pending an extradition hearing.3:55 p.m. Friday — Five people were injured when a pickup truck and sport utility vehicle collided at Routes 173 and 965 in Worth Township, Mercer County.Stephen Taraska, 56, of Warren, who was driving the pickup, and Rachel Vaughn, 20, of Sandy Lake, who was driving the SUV, suffered serious injuries in the crash. Both were taken to Grove City Medical Center. Police said neither driver was wearing a seat belt.Two infants in Vaughn's vehicle, Abagail Geiger, 2, and Colton Geiger, 1, suffered minor injuries; both were secured in child safety seats. Susan Taraska, 57, of Warren, a passenger in the pickup, had moderate injuries. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.All passengers in both vehicles were treated for injuries at the medical center. Stephen Taraska was cited for a stop sign violation and for not wearing a seat belt.Friday — Two chainsaws were stolen from a barn between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in a burglary at the Route 258 home of Charles McGuire in Liberty Township, Mercer County. McGuire and Daniel Long of Harrisville own the chainsaws.3 a.m. Thursday — AMercer man was charged with hit-and-run when he failed to stop after his sport utility vehicle hit a front-end loader on Route 28 near Old Ash Road in Springfield Township, Mercer County.Police said the loader, owned by the state Department of Transportation, was parked on the road as a barrier to prevent vehicles from striking a missing portion of the highway under construction.Joel Meyers, who was not wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries in the crash, was cited for five undisclosed traffic violations.Wednesday — Four people were injured when cars driven by Janyce Jones, 57, of Slippery Rock and Erin Fields, 19, of Cochranton collided on Route 258 at Courtney Mill Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County.Both drivers and two youths, who police did not identify, riding in Jones' car, suffered minor injuries. All occupants in both cars were wearing seat belts.
