12:20 p.m. Sunday — William Reed, 79, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence following a hit-and-run crash on Pillow Street.Police said Reed drove his car off the road and sideswiped a utility pole, blowing out a front tire. He drove off away in the damaged vehicle. Officers found Reed at his home and later arrested him for DUI. He is also charged with accidents involving damage to unattended property.6:13 p.m. Saturday — John Litz, 42, of Jefferson Township was arrested for allegedly breaking into a West Wayne Street house and threatening to kill two people living there.The home's occupants, Brandon Loughman and Sylvia Hulings, told police they know the defendant only by his first name. They said he and some mutual friends had been at their home the previous night.The motive for the burglary was not immediately clear, said police, who later Saturday night arrested Litz coming out of a city bar.He was arraigned on charges of burglary, terroristic threats and public drunkenness. Following arraignment, he was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bond.1:44 a.m. Friday — Lorena DeJesus, 21, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Center Avenue. She was also cited for disregarding traffic lanes and a traffic signal violation.Joshua Lutz, 20, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County, a passenger in her car, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and underage drinking.12:36 a.m. July 29 — David Strader, 23, of Winfield Township was arrested for driving under the influence and careless driving on Center Avenue.

2:48 a.m. Sunday — Matthew Hertizig, 25, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Roue 268 in Parker Township. In addition to DUI, he is also charged with reckless driving and a lane violation.10:55 p.m. Saturday — Apickup truck driven by Garrett Newbold, 17, of Mercer crashed through a set of guardrails on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township and landed in a wooded area.5:15 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Kenneth Klein, 36, of Butler and a car driven by Brian Stuebgen, 34, of Renfrew collided at Route 68 and Krenitsky Lane in Butler Township. The collision forced the pickup into a parked car.Stuebgen and two passengers, a 15-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl who police did not identify, suffered minor to moderate injuries. Klein was cited for an undisclosed traffic violation.5:30 a.m. Saturday — Two unknown men failed in their bid to a steal a vintage car at the Chicora Road home of Mark Reges in Oakland Township. Reges told police the suspects broke into his 1979 Pontiac Trans Am with T-tops and tired to pop the steering column.3:30 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Jeffrey Linton, 45, of Harrisville crashed into a ditch and house at Route 58 and West Street in Harrisville.12:29 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by James Musser, 25, of Summit Township struck a tree along Dalmagro Road in Clearfield Township.Police said Musser did not report the accident and was attempting to tow the car when troopers drove upon the crash site. He allegedly told the officers the vehicle had been stolen.Police said Musser faces charges of false reports to law enforcement authorities as well as a number of undisclosed traffic violations.Saturday — A white Warrior all-terrain vehicle was stolen from the Saniga Road home of Joshua Hiles in Slippery Rock Township. The theft occurred between 10 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.5:37 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Michael Smith, 19, of Fenelton struck a ditch on Lions Road in Center Township. Smith was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.6:20 p.m. Friday — A sport utility vehicle driven by a 16-year-old boy who police did not identify, and a car driven by Travis Vogan, 20, of Franklin, Venango County, collided at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.The collision upended the SUV, which rolled onto its side. The car was forced into the path of and lightly struck a pickup truck driven by Dennis Alcorn, 49, of Harrisville. The teen was cited for a stop sign violation.Friday — An air compressor and copper wire were stolen from the Branchton Road home of John Grossman in Slippery Rock Township. The theft occurred between 8:50 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Friday.Friday — Three inlet grates were stolen between June 14 and Friday from Slippery Rock Road in West Liberty Township. Police noted each grate weighs 250 pounds and the property, owned by PennDOT, was likely stolen to be sold for scrap.Friday — An unidentified vehicle between 8 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday struck three mailboxes along Mercer Road in Center Township.Friday — John Newell, 21, of Butler reported the theft of an Adidas backpack containing gym-style clothing valued at $90 from his vehicle while it was parked in the driveway at 117 Grosvenor Ave. in Center Township between 11 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday.
