<B>Mark Muzzana</B> of Meridian was recently presented The Thomson Cup award for saving a human life.The award was presented by Roger Johnson, a representative of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania at the Masonic Temple in Butler. State Rep. Brian Ellis, R-11th, presented a separate citation on behalf of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.In December, 2004, Muzzana entered a burning Plateau Street home to rescue wheelchair-bound Carol Wise.The Thomson Cup is awarded by a committee of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania after investigating an incident involving the actual saving of a life from certain death, that the nominee was primarily responsible for saving a life.———
The VFW Post 249 Auxiliary recently installed new officers for the 2006-07 club year.<B>Jennifer Harvey</B> was named auxiliary president.The senior vice president is <B>Janet Rettig</B>.———Winners at the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club game July 20 were <B>Lorraine Worsley </B>and <B>Alex Bealles</B>. In second place were <B>Jackie Skirboll </B>and <B>Mary Anne McNeirney</B>.
