Rocker Mason brings show to BC3
BUTLER TWP — Dave Mason maintains rock 'n' roll is an attitude, not an age, and he has lived that message.
Once a member of the band Traffic with Steve Winwood, Mason also enjoyed a solo career that includes more than 20 solo albums. He later toured for two years with Fleetwood Mac.
His now year-round concert schedule brings him to Butler County Community College's Succop Theater on Wednesday. He will perform one show at 8 p.m.
Appearing at BC3 along with Mason on lead guitar and vocals will be Alex Drizos, bass guitarist and vocalist; Johnne Sambataro, guitarist and vocalist; Alvino Bennett, drummer; Bill Mason, keyboardist and vocalist; and Chris Curtis, sound engineer.
Mason was a founding member of Traffic with Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood.
At age 19, Mason wrote the song "Feelin' Alright," which has been recorded by more than 40 artists, most notably by Joe Cocker.
Mason's hits include "Alone Together" and "We Just Disagree."
In addition, he has performed on a number of albums such as The Rolling Stones' "Beggar's Banquet," George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass," Paul McCartney's "Listen to What the Man Said," and Jimi Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland."
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 with the band Traffic.
