4:01 a.m. Tuesday — Joshua McCardle, 19, faces drug charges after he was found on the porch of his West Castle Street home suffering the effects of an apparent overdose.McCardle was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital where a nurse found 24 prescription pills, mostly anti-anxiety drugs, wrapped in cellophane and hidden on his body. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and fraudulent acquisition of prescription drugs.8:28 a.m. Monday — Tammy McLaughlin reported sometime overnight a stereo, valued at $100, was taken from a vehicle at her West Wayne Street home.5:35 a.m. Sunday — Rodger Finney, 45, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Sonja Madison, 45, at the couple's West Wayne Street home. Finney is charged with simple assault.3 a.m. Saturday — Acar driven by Garry Swartzwelder, 36, of Center Township struck a utility pole on West Penn Street. Police said Swartzwelder, who suffered minor injuries, fled the crash site. Laura Minda, 42, of Butler, a passenger, suffered moderate injuries.Swartzwelder was later cited for accidents involving injury while not properly licensed, driving with a suspended license, accident involving damage to unattended property, failing to notify police of an accident, and careless driving.12:32 a.m. Saturday — Patricia Self, 35, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after her van rolled onto its side while turning at East Jefferson and Third streets. The van slid into the side of the Thompson Texaco building on East Jefferson Street. Self, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.9:43 p.m. Thursday — William Jackson Jr., 19, of Butler was arrested after he was allegedly found with six rocks of suspected crack cocaine at Board and Brady streets. He is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

12:30 a.m. Tuesday — A 1967 Pontiac Firebird was taken from the garage of Robert Lawhead of Beaver Dam Road in Clay Township. The black muscle car with green flames on hood was pushed a short distance to a field on Hall Road before it was started. Anyone who might have heard the loud noise of the vehicle between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. is asked to call state police at 724-284-8100.6:25 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Brent Bish, 41, of Petrolia hit a Jeep driven by Lloyd Ice, 54, of West Sunbury when Bish went through a stop sign at the intersection of Peaceful Valley Road and Calico Road in Washington Township. Both drivers, who were wearing seat belts, were not injured.Monday — Thomas Lydon of Winfield Township reported about 30 cassette tapes were taken from his vehicle sometime after June 1.Sunday — Someone took four solar lights from the yard of Karl Evans of Country Club Road Franklin Township after Sunday. The lights were valued at about $70.Sunday — Someone smashed a window of a Dodge TK owned by Ryan James Hollihan, 19, of Saxonburg while it was parked on Route 108 in Worth Township between 7:30 a.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Items were taken from the car.3:30 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Charles Sanders, no age available, of Robinson skidded near the area of mile marker 105 of Interstate 79 in Worth Township. The Ford Taurus struck a sign and went into the ditch. The car had moderate damage. Sanders, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.Saturday — A 17-inch television, two DVD players and a stereo player were taken between June 27 and Saturday in a burglary at the South Main Street apartment of Emmy Mostoller in Slippery Rock. The stolen property is valued at $670.2:45 p.m. June 27 — A car driven by Gloria Snyder, 47, of Butler and a pickup truck driven by Joseph Cupec, 55, of West Sunbury collided on Route 8 at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. The car after the collision struck a cargo truck driven by Doug Kelly, 34, of Butler.3:09 p.m. June 24 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Christine Wilson, 36, of Rochester, N.Y., and a car driven by Amanda Willette, 23, of Butler collided at Route 422 and Eagle Mill Road in Franklin Township. Wilson's SUV, after the collision, struck a motorcycle driven by Michael Butler, 30, of Butler.Butler, who was wearing a helmet, suffered undisclosed injuries. Wilson was cited for a red light violation.

12:15 a.m. Saturday — Amber Pinkal, 21, of Parker is accused of assaulting Suszann Wurster, 38, of Parker during a domestic dispute on Bela Road in Toby Township, Clarion County.2:45 a.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by Jason McKinney, 24, of Rimersburg struck a ditch and rolled onto its side before hitting a tree along Route 68 in Piney Township, Clarion County. McKinney and a passenger, Oriana Pawluk, 23, of Rimersburg, neither of whom was wearing a seat belt, were treated for minor injuries at Clarion Hospital.

Friday — Deborah Boroski of Freeport reported the theft of her purse from her Fourth Street residence between 11 p.m. Thursday and 5:30 a.m. Friday. The thief then used credit cards in the stolen purse at several businesses, spending an unspecified amount.
