7:30 p.m. Friday — Aaron J. Banks, 21, of Karns City was charged with aggravated assault following a vehicle accident on Route 38 in Venango Township. While a passenger in a car driven by a 21-year-old Hilliards woman, Banks allegedly grabbed the steering wheel repeatedly, causing the vehicle to hit an embankment. At some point, the woman was struck in the face causing redness and swelling. Banks was arraigned before District Judge Lewis Stoughton and jailed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bond. Police did not release the woman's name.5 p.m. Thursday — Garrett M. Mauthe, 29, of Bruin was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly breaking the passenger side window of a vehicle during an argument with a 25-year-old Bruin woman, injuring her and a 5-year-old girl, who were in the vehicle that was in the driveway in front of 266 Main St. in Bruin. The woman and girl were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for glass cuts. Police have issued a warrant for Mauthe's arrest. Police did not release the woman's name.

3:50 p.m. Wednesday — A North Versailles man and teen were arrested for possessing marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 28 in Buffalo Township. Both the 17-year-old male and Matthew Mochan, 20, were arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also found a handgun in the teen's vehicle. Due to his age, the teen is not permitted to carry a handgun.10:10 p.m. — A vehicle driven by Danielle Lynn Howard, 20, of Freeport rear-ended a car driven by Lisa Sicilia, 42, of Arnold on Route 28 in O'Hara Township, Allegheny County. Sicilia was treated at UPMC St. Margaret's for a complaint of back pain. Sicilia's two passengers, girls ages 9 and 11, and Howard were not injured. Both drivers and both children were wearing seat belts.State Police, Clarion6:25 a.m. Friday — An SUV driven by Thomas Murphy, 27, of Rimersburg was traveling on Route 368 in Perry Township when it flipped over before landing upright. Murphy, who was wearing a seat belt, had unspecified injuries. He told police the accident occurred because he swerved to avoid hitting a deer.
