Christ Community U.M.The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed during weekend worship services at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road.Members of the congregation are asked to return the "Welcome Message" cards to the church for newly appointed pastor, the Rev. Lisa Grant. A cake and beverage reception in her honor will follow the 10 am. Sunday service.Volunteers are needed to staff the church nursery. A training seminar and necessary clearances will be provided by the church in the fall. Sign-up sheets are posted in the narthex.The church is accepting donations of recyclable paper products such as newspapers, magazines, junk mail and catalogs.
Christ's OutreachChrist's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Avenue, will host a Praise Fest Tuesday. The event will start at 6 p.m. with live music from the praise band "Innerchange" along with face painting, balloons and games for the kids.The festival provides free food and a great view of the Butler fireworks.Participants should take lawn chairs or blankets.In case of rain, the event will be moved to the church gym.

First BaptistOn Friday, First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will sponsor an all-church trip to PNC Park for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game with the Detroit Tigers. A bus will leave the church at 5 p.m. for the 7:05 game and will return about 11 p.m.The church will be among congregations participating from Monday through Saturday in a family camp at the Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock.The church and other churches of the Association of Independent Baptist Churches of Western Pennsylvania also will be participating from Monday through Friday of the coming week in primary day camp, basketball day camp, soccer day camp and music camp at the Slippery Rock Baptist Camp.
