PROSPECT — A Moniteau High School student was named queen of the 2006 Big Butler Fair during a pageant held at The Atrium on June 15.

Mindy Stoops, daughter of Frank and Pam Stoops of West Sunbury, took the title of fair queen.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as the vice president of the Future Farmers of America at Moniteau. She has also exhibited animals at the fair in past years.

The first runner-up in the pageant was Amanda Tyson, daughter of Dave and Becky Tyson of Slippery Rock. Other contestants included Kimberly Dow, Amanda Maybold and Dannielle Spencer. Dow was the recipient of the Best Speech Award.

Stoops was crowned by 2006 Pennsylvania State Fair Queen Rebekah Dunn of Mount Chestnut. Stoops will represent the fair at various events and parades and will reign over activities during the Big Butler Fair, to be held Friday through July 8.
