Tuesday — A crafter's kit worth $30 was stolen in a burglary between 2 p.m. Monday and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Sandy Cherry at the Cromwell Estates Trailer Court in Clinton Township.5:20 a.m. — Christopher Heitzenrater, 30, of Butler is accused of breaking into the Rader School Road home of Matthew Eckstein in Forward Township, and punching Eckstein in the face and head several times.Heitzenrater drove off in a truck but was later arrested, arraigned and jailed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000. He is charged with burglary, trespass, simple assault and harassment.Eckstein, 28, suffered unknown injuries in the assault.

Tuesday — An unknown thief stole a muffler and 8 inches of exhaust pipe from a car as the vehicle's owner took a swim some 50 yards away in the Allegheny River in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County.Jonathan Eric Jones, 18, of Creighton told police he parked his 1997 Chevy Cavalier on Liberty Road about 5:15 p.m., and took a dip not far from Lock No. 6 on the river.When he got back to his car about 7 p.m., he noticed the theft of his vehicle's exhaust system, as well as pry marks on the driver's side door. Police said the car sustained about $500 in damage; the stolen property is valued at $200.
