The
Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and
Junior Auxiliary were recently honored by the hospital for donating 25,234 hours of service in the past year.During a recognition luncheon held at the Butler Country Club, awards were presented to members of each group named Volunteer of the Year.The award for Auxilian of the Year went to
Shirley Crawford of Butler. The title of Candystriper of the Year went to
Elyse Hamblen, also of Butler.Amember of the auxiliary since 1993, Crawford has served more than 3,500 hours. A retired bookkeeper from Walsh Equipment, she volunteers in the Cherry Tree and Hostess shops.
The daughter of David and Fauna Hamblen of Butler, Hamblen has volunteered as a candystriper since 2003.A senior at Butler High School, she plans to attend Slippery Rock University in the fall, majoring in chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacy.
