4:59 p.m. Tuesday — No one was injured when fire broke out in the engine of a car on Second Street.Autumn Ruth, 24, of Butler was driving the car when she noticed smoke coming from under the hood. She stopped and, along with a passenger, got out of the vehicle as the fire started.1:25 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Michael Wesley, 31, of Butler Township and a van driven by Thomas O'Brien, 49, of Butler collided on Pillow Street and Hansen Avenue. Wesley was cited for a traffic signal violation.4:17 p.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by John Heck, 36, of Renfrew struck bushes and a utility pole at Penn and Franklin streets.

Tuesday — White plastic picket fencing in 3-feet-by-8-feet sections was stolen overnight from Builder Surplus, Alameda Plaza.

Monday — Two people were arrested for driving under the influence during Memorial Day weekend DUI patrols. Additionally, officers issued eight traffic citations and eight warnings to motorists.

2:07 a.m. Tuesday — Two cash registers containing a small amount of money and several state lottery tickets were taken in a burglary at Novotny's General Store in South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County.Tuesday — A cash register and about $115 were taken overnight in a burglary at Bowser's Feed Store on Main Street in Worthington, Armstrong County.

4:27 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Jessica Ernst, 19, of Cabot and a sport utility vehicle driven by Deborah Pfabe, 45, of Butler collided at Freeport Drive and Caldwell Drive in Jefferson Township. Ernst was cited for a stop sign violation.Tuesday — John Davey of Monroeville, Allegheny County, told police someone stole a leather jacket and chaps and a Pittsburgh Steelers' jersey from his motorcycle bags at the Clearview Mall in Center Township.Tuesday — Twenty-eight drivers were placed out of service during a commercial vehicle safety detail conducted between Friday and Tuesday on Interstate 79 in Butler and Lawrence counties.Officers inspected 655 vehicles during the detail, dubbed "Holiday Security Awareness."The inspections led to 40 vehicles being pulled out of service. Additionally, officers issued 255 vehicle or driver citations and another 638 warnings.
