Huth Jr.

Regis J. Huth Jr., 60, of Cabot, died Friday morning at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.

Born in New Kensington,Westmore-land County, Sept. 8, 1945, he was a son of the late Regis J. and Emma Freehling Huth Sr.

A 1964 graduate of Ken High School in New Kensington and of the Lincoln Welding School in Cleveland, he retired in 2000 as a welder at the Alcoa Tech Center. He then continued welding at the AccroTech Co., Leechburg.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Huth was a 35-year member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot, where he served as an usher and was a past member of the pastoral council.

He had been very active in local emergency services and was the emergency management coordinator for Winfield Township. He was a charter member of the Butler County HazMat Team 100 and was serving as the assistant team commander. He was a co-founder and charter member of the Winfield Township Volunteer Fire Department and had served as president and fire chief. He also was a past president of the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department. He was a trustee of the Armstrong County Firemen's Association, and past treasurer for the Butler County Fire Chiefs Association. He also had also been a member of the Alcoa Fire Brigade and was a member of the Alcoa 25-Year Club.

Surviving are his wife, Janet M. Nebel Huth, whom he married May 16, 1970; a son, Regis J. Huth III and his wife, Sara, of Fort Wright, Ky.; a daughter, Rebecca (Mrs. Gregory) Venesky of Cabot; two brothers, Richard Huth of Tarentum and Thomas (Carol) Huth of New Kensington; and five sisters, Irene Comperatore of Tarentum, Lenore (Mrs. Stanley) Lewandowski of Cheswick, Alice (Mrs. John) Schneider of Enon Valley, Mary (Mrs. Robert) Jordon of Hickory and Dorothy (Mrs. Bruce) Leith of Apollo. Also surviving are 36 nieces and nephews and 26 grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Conrad Huth.

<B> HUTH </B>— Friends of Regis J. Huth Jr. who died Friday, April 28, 2006, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. John Getsy, OFM Cap., will officiate.
