Daniel R. Daniels

Daniel R. Daniels, 80, of East Butler, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born April 5, 1926, in East Butler, he was the son of Steve and Anna Hollack Daniels.

He was a veteran of the Army and retired as a bricklayer for Local 9 of the Bricklayers Union.

Mr. Daniels was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a life member of the Happy Hunters, the East Butler Hunting & Fishing Club, the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department, the Paralyzed Veterans of America and Chicora VFW Post 7876.

Surviving are four daughters, Caroline Sturgen of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Will (Claudia) Fisher of Delmar, Md., Beverly Daniels of East Butler and Pamela Shaffler of Seabrook, Texas; three sons, David Daniels of Palmer, Alaska, Paul Daniels of Waco, Texas, and Dale Daniels of Chicora; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Paul (Shirley) Homa of East Butler; and three brothers, Jim Daniels of East Butler and Eugene and David Daniels, both of Butler.

His wife, Judith Joan Shaffler Daniels, whom he married in August 1947, died Aug. 9, 2002. Two sisters and a brother also preceded him in death.

<B>DANIELS </B>— Friends of Daniel R. Daniels, who died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., with the Rev. Pierre Falkenhan officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery.Graveside military honors will be accorded by Chicora VFW Post 7876.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
