Calvin F. Rice
Calvin F. Rice, 77, of Jackson Township died Tuesday at the Ellwood City Hospital.
Born Feb. 22, 1929, in Roanoke, Ala., he was the son of Hayden Eugene and Lillian Roqumore Rice.
He served in the Navy and the Coast Guard in World War II and the Korean War as a Navy frogman and Coast Guard radarman. He received numerous military honors including the Good Conduct Medal, the Defense Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal.
Mr. Rice was a member of the Zelienople American Legion Post 474 and the Evans City VFW Post 499, where he was a past commander.
He retired in 1991 from the FB Leopold Co. and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was known as the Good Samaritan Mechanic on Route 528.
Surviving are his wife, Dawna "Mitzie" Rice, whom he married, Aug. 15, 1957; two daughters, Linda Diane Graef of Zelienople and Maureen Michele Neal and her husband, Edward, of Evans City; a brother, Hayden E. Rice Jr. of Fombell; and a sister, Uldine Whaley of Birmingham, Ala. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Shannon Graef and Jared, Dylan and Cody Neal; and a great grandson, Brayden Covelli.

Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. N. Graham Standish, pastor of the Calvin Presbyterian Church, officiating.
