Eugene V. McElhatten

Eugene V. McElhatten, 93, of Villa Drive died at 4:56 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Kittanning, Sept. 1, 1912, he was the son of Chauncey and Mary Pashley McElhatten.

He had worked for the Civil Conservation Corps, a division of the Forest Service. After leaving the Forest Service, he worked at Pullman Standard before entering the Army and served in the Pacific during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Pullman Standard and retired as a machinist after 34 years.

Mr. McElhatten was a member of the Community Alliance Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. He also was a deacon and a usher.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Marie A. Michael McElhatten, whom he married Oct. 23,1946; two sons, James McElhatten of Shermansdale and David McElhatten of Clearwater, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Colleen) Trulick of Butler; five grandchildren; a great- granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

<B>MCELHATTEN</B> — Friends of Eugene V. McElhatten, who died Friday, April 21, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Krajacic, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park, ButlerTownship.Information also is available at www.thompson-miller.com.
