Warren edges Eagles

Chelsea Filer was good, but Warren was just a little bit better.

Filer, a freshman pitcher for the Grove City HighSchool softball team, tossed a three-hitter, striking out five, but the Eagles lost 1-0 in eight grueling innings in the first round of the District 10 playoffs Tuesday in Meadville.

"She played a whale of a game tonight," said Grove City coachSue Greaves. "The girls played really well."

Warren scored the winning run on an infield single with a runner at third with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Grove City (10-7) got hits from Jessie Hodge, Maggie Orr and Katie Stewart in the loss that ended its season.
