Kate Booher of New Castle, daughter of Todd Booher and Trinda Booher and granddaughter of George and Peggy Dean of Chicora, was crowned the 2006-07 Pennsylvania Jersey Cattle Queen at a recent pageant held in Mercer.The owner of six Jersey cows, she will advance to the national competition in Louisville, Ky., in November.Booher is the secretary of the Butler County 4-H Dairy Club and president of the B&B 4-H Dairy Judging Club.———The Butler branch of the
American Association of University Women recently elected officers for 2006-07.Officers include
Jean Shumway, program vice president, and
Ellen Garbuny and
Janet Black, co-secretaries.The new officers join the current officers,
Mary McGinnis, president;
Carolyn Shriver, membership vice president; and
Jill Roth, financial officer.The chapter recently received the Four Stars in PA Recognition Award during the state convention for its programs in voter awareness and building self-esteem in young girls and for its commitment to support national educational and gender equity issues.
