The Disciple I class of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, Butler Township, will host its annual retreat Friday and Saturday at Olmsted Manor.

In observance of Mother's Day, blankets purchased through Church World Service to honor or in memory of special women will be dedicated during the 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services.

The Rev. Mary Gray Emmett will lead the Contemporary service at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

The 2006 Confirmation Class will be received into membership during the 11 a.m. Sunday service. The class will be honored at a breakfast at 9:45 a.m.

Blood pressure screenings will be available following all weekend worship services.

Sunday will be the final meeting for all Sunday school classes prior to the summer break.

During the month of May, members are asked to purchase "Shower Gifts" for the church nursery. A wish list of needed items is posted on the bulletin board in the narthex.

New members will be received during the 7 p.m. Saturday contemporary service at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave. Barry Hixon and Jim Cavalero will present music for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.The Tom Walker Family will join The Down East Boys in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College.A Memorial Day slide presentation is being created for services on May 27 and 28. Photographs of loved ones should be labeled with the name and year of birth/death and given to Adam Schnur or submitted to the church office by May 21st. Photos of military members should list dates and location of service. Photographs submitted last year will be included and do not need to be resubmitted.Vacation Bible school 2006 is in the planning stages and the Bible quizzing program is being expanded to include younger children. A Butler Community Car Cruise, hosted by Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. May 18.Covenant PresbyChildren and youth of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will lead the worship service Sunday. Children of all ages will present carnations to honor all women in the congregation.The Covenant Cupboard Food Bank if requesting donations of noodles or tuna for May. Baskets to receive the donations are located in the East Jefferson Street entrance hallway.Linda Day, the editor of the book of essays entitled, "Engaging the Bible in a Gendererd World," will lead the Seekers Class on Sunday. She will speak on the laments in the Old Testament. The class meets at 9:45 a.m. in the Assembly Room.

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will be among congregations participating in a singles retreat from 5:30 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock. It will be open to single adults from churches in the Association of Baptist Churches of Western Pennsylvania.A paintball competition involving AIBCWP teens, young men, dads and guests will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. The $20 fee will cover gun rental, lunch and 100 paintballs.A baptismal event will be included in the 10:55 a.m. Sunday service.

The youth of First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 at Heckert Road, Gibsonia, will hold a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eckerd Drug Store at routes 8 and 910 in Gibsonia. A $5 donation is suggested.Registrations will be taken on Sundays in May after both worship services in the Christian Education entrance for the Summer Blast Camp — Fiesta, 9 a.m. to noon, July 10 through 14; and the Extended Summer Blast, noon to 5 p.m. July 10 to 13. Volunteers from Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler Township, will serve the Community Meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church.The food item for May for the Covenant Food Cupboard is dried beans or rice. Items should be placed in the designated box in the narthex.

The Rev. Gary Weston of Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia, will begin a three week series on the Da Vinci Code during the 10 a.m. Sunday service. The Puppet Ministry will deliver the Children's Message.Blood Pressure Screenings will be held after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
