Anthony Chaverine
Anthony "Tony" Chaverine, 83, of Shields Road, Forestville, died Friday at his home after a long illness.
Born in Forestville, May 19, 1922, he was the son of Ermindo and Josephine Sawl Chaverine.
He had worked at Cooper Energy in Grove City for 42 years.
During World War II, he served in the Pacific with the Marine Corps, 22nd Reinforced attached to the 6th Marine Division. He received two Purple Hearts with one Gold Star, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Presidential Unit Commedation Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, and the Bronze Star with Combat "V."
Mr. Chaverine was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church of Forestville. He also belonged to the National Rifle Association, the American Legion Post 0852 of Harrisville and the VFW Post 249 and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 64 of Butler and the 6th Marine Division.
Surviving are two daughters, Connie Dickson and her husband, Ron, of Conneaut Lake, and Toni Henry and her husband, John, of Greenville; and a sister, Mary Keep of Slippery Rock. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Lynann Morrison, Gina France, Larry Bonetti Jr. and Danielle Henry; and 11 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Frances Stanley Chaverine, died May 27, 1997. A daughter, Connie's twin, Cathie, and her daughter, Christine Bonetti, also preceded him in death.
<B>CHAVERINE </B>— Friends of Anthony "Tony" Chaverine, who died Friday, April 7, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Dickson Funeral Home</B>, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady Queen of Americas Church, Conneaut Lake, with the Rev. Stephen Anderson officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville.
