Traveling Cheap Is Not Worth It

It's human nature to try and cut corners and to take the best deal whenever and where ever possible. I'm sure you've heard the expression: "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is". I don't want to take that expression directly in context and relate it to traveling because it doesn't directly apply! What I do want to do through is point out that being super budget conscious when you travel doesn't really add up.

You're about to book that long awaited vacation. Let's say it's Cancun, Mexico. So you're looking for cheap tickets, and looking at all of your different options for accommodations. You're looking at things like star ratings and facilities, and most importantly, prices. But remember hotels pay for ratings on the net.

That's why seeing a Travel Agent is always best. They have been there and know what the hotels are like and can help you make the best decision. At any major travel spot there are a huge array of differences in accommodations, which amounts to a huge difference in pricing across the spectrum. Unless you're swimming in money, you're probably going to think: I want to get the most from the hotel and the most stars for my money.

If you take the middle of the road, (A three star) The stars dazzle your eyes, and now you're quickly going through the hotels looking for the cheapest hotel rated three stars. Why? Maybe it's because you're cheap, but most likely it's just because you're human. You want more, for less.

You've found it! You wait for the time to pass until you embark on your journey. Flights, airports and taxis later you arrive at your hotel. I'm going to pick an all-inclusive resort because it's in those resorts where the greatest difference, I feel lies whiting the star rating. When you're staying at a hotel for a night, and eating out, etc., there really isn't that much of a difference (at least to me), between having marble floors, or carpet. But, when you're at a resort for a week, and the food is barely edible, service is non-existent, and you're worried about leaving you're room for fear of you're contents going missing - the difference, all of a sudden becomes apparent. The first day is tolerable, the second and third are working down hill, and by the end of the week your miserable, and you're ready to go home. You've save a few hundred dollars, but, instead of having the vacation of your life, you're at the end of your stay longing to be home. Home, the place you couldn't wait to get out of just a week before and if you thought you saved money by booking yourself then you have no one to go to for help.

That's when you know "You should have called a Travel Agent they are there to help. There aren't many circumstances when a little price difference and a lot of help isn't justified. If you're going to spend $2,000 then call a Travel agent and get the most for your money. Besides knowing where to or where not to stay, they can also save you money and aggravation.
