Newton

Gertrude Newton of Portersville celebrated her 100th birthday recently with an open house attended by more than 120 family members and friends at First United Presbyterian Church in Portersville.

The former Gertrude Studebaker was born April 29, 1906. She married Kenneth Newton on June 12, 1930. He is deceased.

She has four children, Max Newton of Portersville; Barbara Pimentel of Ipswich, Mass.; Carol Minteer of Billerica, Mass.; and Norma Thomas of Hillsdale, Mich.

She also has eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Newton is retired. She belongs to First United Presbyterian Church in Portersville.
