Joan C. Hedrick
Joan Clare Hedrick, 76, of Miola Road in Clarion, died Friday at the Clarion Hospital.
Born Dec. 24, 1929, in Miola, she was the daughter of Lewis and Anna ShrumDolby.
She grew up in Helen Furnace and graduated from Clarion Senior High School in 1947. She then attended Clarion Teachers College and graduated in 1951 with a degree in elementary education. She taught school in Altoona and Brookville.
She married Ralph Hedrick, her long-time neighbor and schoolmate, on Jan. 28, 1954, and he survives.
Mrs. Hedrick was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and crafts, playing cards, reading, baking, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known for her homemade bread and coffee cake.
She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, was the president of the United Methodist Women of the Tylersburg Charge and was a member of the Leeper Women's Club. She was also a 4-H leader and a Girl Scout leader.
Surviving her are her two daughters, Debra Longbine and her husband, Robert of Derby, N.Y., and Joyce Cassidy of Valencia; a son, Philip Hedrick of Derby; five grandchildren, Joel and June Longbine and Christopher, Jill and Daniel Cassidy; two brothers, Willis Dolby of Beverly Healthcare in Shippenville and Melvin Dolby of Tarentum; a sister, Shirley Schmader of Helen Furnace; three sisters-in-law, Susan Dolby of DuBois, Helen Goble and her husband, Larry of Clarion and Jean George and her husband, Richard of Girty.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Dolby of DuBois.
<B>HEDRICK — </B>Friends of Joan Clare Hedrick, who died on Friday, April 7, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>GOBLE FUNERAL HOME</B>, 330 Wood St., Clarion. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Good Shepherd Church in Tylersburg, with Rev. Joy Bagwell and Rev.
