SV teacher earns excellence award from organization
PITTSBURGH — A Seneca Valley School District teacher was named one of seven Teachers of Excellence by a nonprofit organization.
Mary Wildman, an accounting teacher for grades 11 and 12 at Seneca Valley High School, won the award from the Teacher Excellence Center.
Wildman and the six others each receive a $2,5000 grant for their schools.
Other winners are Elaine Barron of Avonworth High School, Ricard Zilla of Greenville High School, Ruth Dines of David E. Williams Middle School, CeCe Kapron of Mount Lebanon High School, Chris Panos of Marshall Middle School, and Barry Wood of Peters Township High School.
Teachers were chosen based on an essay on about five qualities of teachers.
Teachers in Allegheny, Butler, Beaver Fayette, Lawrence, Mercer, Washington and Westmoreland counties were eligible.
