3:54 p.m. Thursday — A filled tool box was found on North McKean Street. The owner can claim the property by calling police at 724-287-7743.12:37 p.m. Thursday — Brian Lyons, 38, no known address, was arrested after he was found sleeping in a vacant apartment on West New Castle Street. Police allegedly found him with suspected crack cocaine, a crack pipe and $176.He was arraigned on charges of trespass and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $10,000.
3:30 a.m. Thursday — Mark Smith, 21, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after his vehicle crashed into a guardrail on Alameda Park Road.Police said Smith fled the crash but was later found at his home. He is also charged with accidents involving damage to property, failure to immediately notify police of an accident, and an inspection violation.
Thursday — A Black and Decker<B> </B>drill, Colbolt drill set and Dewalt rechargeable radio were taken between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 p.m. Thursday from a tool box in a theft at a Blossom Ridge home in Center Township. Ronald Grossman and John Grossman, both of Slippery Rock, own the stolen property.11:40 p.m. Wednesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Jonathan Hamilton, 21, of Boyers struck a tree at Shields Road and Crystal Lane in Mercer Township.5:45 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Mathew McCracken, 19, of Butler struck a tree, traveled over a hillside and hit another tree along Leisie Road in Forward Township.
Thursday — Police are investigating a bomb threat that forced administrators to evacuate Union High School in Madison Township, Clarion County.Ahandwritten threat was found on the chair of a student's desk during the sixth period. School officials called for the evacuation and canceled all events for the remainder of the day.Apolice bomb-detecting dog was called in to help police search the school; nothing was found. The district resumed its normal schedule this morning.
