Blanche Sinkevich

Blanche S. Sinkevich, 82, of 100 Bessemer Ave., Lyndora, died Monday at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born in Butler Nov. 8, 1923, she was the daughter of Jacob and Mary L. Convery Stokes.

She retired from the Magnetics Division of Spang and Co. after 20 years.

Mrs. Sinkevich was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Butler Moose Lodge Auxiliary and the Tanglewood Senior Center.

She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed reading. She also loved the snow in the winter and especially enjoyed her time on the farm. She liked helping others by donating to religious organizations.

She is survived by three sons, William J. Sinkevich of Freeport, James G. Sinkevich and his wife, Mary Ann, of Pittsburgh and Charles E. Sinkevich of Butler; three daughters, Mary C. Podvasnik and her husband, Terry, of Slippery Rock, Anna Marie Harshman and her husband, William, of Tyrone and Elizabeth L. White of Great Mills, Md.; two brothers, James Stokes of Butler and Elmer "Bud" Stokes of Lewistown.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Richard J. and Michael E. Charpentier, Mary C. Wetzel and Linda Charpentier, all of Butler, Ruth Dorrier and her husband Sean, of Harrisville, Rebecca L. Maurio and her husband, Joseph, of Randallstown, Md., Jason C. Harshman of Allentown, Rachel S. Wiggins and her husband, Brandon, of Fort Worth, Texas, Sarah E. Harshman of Pittsburgh, Robert C. White and his wife, Tiffany, and Benjamin J. White, all of Great Mills and James G. and Jennifer V. Sinkevich, both of Pittsburgh; 10 great-grandchildren, Crystalynn A., Laurissa A. and Erica L. Charpentier, Samantha L. and Dillon J. Wetzel, Kaileigh N., Victoria L. and Ryan J. Dorrier, Christopher Joseph and Ashley Bennett; a niece, Amy Zanella; two nephews, Michael and Albert Zanella, who cared for her; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, William P. Harshman, who died in May 2005; a great-grandson, Michael McFarland; and three sister, Agnes Rettig, Mary Zanella and Helen Thomas.

<B> SINKEVICH </B>— There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for Blanche S. Sinkevich, who died Monday, March 27, 2006, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>.Members of the St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:35 a.m. Saturday at the church.
