SRU falls to Mountain Cats
SLIPPERY ROCK — Despite getting a 6-for-8 performance from shortstop Phil Butch, the Slippery Rock University baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Pitt-Johnstown by scores of 7-5 and 7-6 Thursday afternoon.
Butch tallied three singles and a double in the first game, which saw Rock reliever Tom Turnbull take the loss after surrendering two runs in the top of the ninth inning.
SRU designated hitter Ryan Dillon went 3-for-4 in the first loss.
The Rock had pulled even at 6-all in the second game before the Mountain Cats scored the winning run in the top of the sixth inning off losing pitcher Mike DeCola.
SRU catcher Jim Eimiller went 3-for-3 in the second defeat.
