Grayce I. Bell of Shaler Township, formerly of Bruin, died of cancer Friday at the Wexford House Nursing Center

Born Oct. 3, 1916, in Annisville, Washington Township, she was the daughter of John H. and Blanche Hillard Bell.

She graduated in 1934 from Karns City High School as class valedictorian.

During World War II, she worked for the Army Air Corps in Dayton, Ohio, assembling gliders for the war effort. Following the war, she worked at the Koppers Co. in Petrolia. She then worked at the Deshon Veterans Hospital in Butler, where she started in the housekeeping department and left as a respiratory therapy technician.

Upon leaving Deshon, she enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, where she furthered her studies in respiratory therapy. She then worked at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh and retired in 1982 as the director of the cardio pulmonary lab.

She is survived by a son, W.D. "Wayne" Bell and his dear friend, Nancy Kay, of Cranberry Township; and a grandson, John R. Bell, with whom she lived in Shaler Township. Also surviving are Chris Kay of Vienna, Va., Kathy "Kay" Suydam of Richmond, Va.; and, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and many very close friends and former co-workers.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Bell Black and Junele Bell, and a brother, Paul W. Bell.

<B>BELL </B>— Friends of Grayce I. Bell, who died Friday, March 17, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p. m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Martinsburg Church, 128 Main St., Bruin, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the New Salem Cemetery, Annisville.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bell Charitable Trust, c/o James Beck @ Hefren Tillotson, 106 S.
