Bender, Smith
Butler residents Christine Bender and Mark Smith were united in marriage at 3 p.m. March 11 at Harvest Assembly of God in Butler. The Rev. Al Huba and the Rev. Randy Ietto officiated. Areception followed at the Penn Glade Lions Club.
The bride is the daughter of the Rev. George and Helen Bender of Butler. Parents of the bridegroom are Rosemary Smith of Butler and the late Vincent Smith.
The matron of honor was Linda Brugere of Butler. Bridesmaids included Judi Kraus of Mars and Aliza Shaw of Virginia Beach, Va. The junior bridesmaid was Nicole Kraus of Mars. The bride's daughter Kylee Bender of Butler was the flower girl.
Serving the bridegroom as best man was Bill Slagle of Butler. Ushers included John and Divon Smith, both of Butler. The groom's son, Bryre Smith of Butler was the junior groomsman. The ring bearer was Christian Rebmann of Lyndora.
The bride attended Beaver Valley Christian Academy and Geneva College. Agraduate of the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute, she works at The Retirement Village at St. Barnabas in Gibsonia.
The bridegroom attended Butler High School. He works as a private contractor with Aquatech of Butler.
Following a honeymoon trip to the Canaan Valley Resort in West Virginia, the couple is making their home in Butler Township.
