Ambrose J. Hartz Jr.

Ambrose J. "Amy" Hartz Jr., 81, of Prospect died Thursday morning as the result of a house fire at his home.

Born Dec. 25, 1924, in Carnegie, he was the son of Ambrose J. Sr. and Ima Blass Hartz.

He was a Catholic.

Mr. Hartz was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler.

He and his wife operated the Roxy Diner in Prospect from 1972 to 1979.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Gibson Hartz, whom he married Nov. 10, 1967; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Michael (Charlene) Pinter of Ocala, Fla., and Tracey Kniess and Jan Rizzo of Pittsburgh; seven children from a previous marriage; two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter. Also surviving are a sister, Joan Larbig of Crafton; and two brothers, Richard Hartz of Pittsburgh and John Hartz of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, two sisters and a brother.

<B>HARTZ </B>— Friends of Ambrose J. "Amy" Hartz Jr., who died Thursday, March 9, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Jay Bryan Funeral Home</B>, 443 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be at noon Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Harry Bielewicz, pastor of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.Military honors will be conducted by the Joseph T.
