4 facing charges for drugs
Four suspects face drug-related charges following weekend raids by narcotics officers at the Mifflin Apartments in Butler.
Deshundra Houston, 22, considered a mid-level dealer, was found Saturday night in her West New Castle Street apartment along with her two young children, according to the Butler County Drug Task Force.
Officers, armed with a search warrant, seized a gram of suspected crack cocaine and a baggie of marijuana hidden inside a safe in Houston's bedroom, according to court documents. Also confiscated was $109 in currency in the safe.
Houston's kids were turned over to the custody of Butler County Children and Youth Services.
Also in the apartment was Michael Webb, 37, of Clay Township, who was found with a metal drug pipe, documents said.
Houston was arraigned Saturday on charges of possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, and possession of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.
She is in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bond.
Police on Monday charged Webb with a summary county of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, at the same time Houston's home was being raided, just downstairs in the same apartment building officers served a search warrant on Robert Trofimuk Jr., 45, at his home, police said.
Both warrants were obtained following a nine-month investigation that targeted crack cocaine trafficking in Butler, said Pat Cannon, county detective and drug task force coordinator.
Police said criminal charges are pending against Trofimuk, who is believed to have sold cocaine primarily to support his own drug habit, authorities said.
Bryan Leonard, 21, of Butler Township was found with drug paraphernalia at Trofimuk's apartment during the raid and jailed on a probation violation.
Four days earlier, Leonard was arraigned on drug delivery charges stemming from a separate state police investigation.
In that case, Leonard is accused of selling 10 stamp bags of heroin to an undercover police officer during a controlled buy, aided by a confidential informant, at a parking lot at East Jefferson and North Monroe streets in Butler, documents said.
