Warren 'Smitty' Smith
Warren L. "Smitty" Smith, 84, formerly of Butler, a loving husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday. He had been a patient at the Lund Skilled Center at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot for more than two years.
He was the son of William and Iva Bowser Smith and his grade school years were spent in the Kittanning area. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1939, and he attended the Bob Jones University in Tennessee.
Mr. Smith, a self-employed businessman, formerly owned Smith's Farm Service in Fenelton, which covered Butler and surrounding counties, with a dealer warehouse in Grove City. He also had owned Suburban True Value Hardware in Center Township.
He was a member of the Community Alliance Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling. After retiring, he and his wife spent winters in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was an avid Steelers fan.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemarie Schall Smith, whom he married Sept. 1, 1951, in New Kensington; two daughters, Mrs. David (Jody B.) Schultz and Mrs. Russ (Lori L.) Dunlap, both of Butler; six grandchildren, Courtney, Chad, Shane, David, Elizabeth and Warren; a sister, Virginia D. Campbell of Allison Park; and several nieces and nephews.
SMITH — Friends of Warren L. "Smitty" Smith, who died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Visitation also will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Community Alliance Church, where services will follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Krajacic officiating.
