Butler Church of the NazareneAmber Reckner will provide music for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at the Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68. Children's Church will be directed by Gwen Atkinson. The Rev. Barry Mohney, retired Nazarene elder living in Butler, will be the guest speaker for the 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. services.The Caravan Kid Club's annual Pinewood Derby will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Children should take their cars. Refreshments will be served.

Christ CommunityThe Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated during weekend worship services at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road.The seventh and eighth grade Confirmation classes will attend a class trip to Washington, D.C., Thursday through Saturday.Sunday school class members are reminded of the Gulf Coast Supply Competition. Items should be returned to the church by Sunday. The class gathering the most items will be awarded a breakfast pizza party.Members participating in the upcoming mission trip to Vancleave, Miss., should attend a travel planning meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.Orders for Easter flowers in honor or memory of loved ones should be returned to the church office by Wednesday. Prices run from $2.50 to $7 depending upon the plants ordered.Sign-up sheets for the annual Easter prayer vigil are in the narthex. Members may select half-hour time slots for prayer and meditation from Good Friday through Easter morning.The church softball team is seeking members to play in the Butler Interfaith Fellowship League. Christ's OutreachThe Caravan Children's Choir and Amanda Sybert will provide music for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave."Worship as a Family" will be celebrated the first weekend of every month. Children age 3 and older are welcome to join parents during the entire worship service for the first Saturday and Sunday of every month. Supervised nursery care will be staffed for children younger than 2½.The food bank special item for April will be cereal, toaster pastries or cereal bars. Donations can be placed in the boxes by the church doors.Single members of the church are invited to brunch at the Butler Days Inn following the Sunday morning service.The Easter Choir rehearsal will be canceled this Sunday and rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Christian PraiseChristian Praise & Worship Church, Route 68, Bradys Bend, will host a series taught by Ronald Shafer, Ph.D. The series will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday. Shafer, a Kittanning native, has taught and guest lectured in many counties around the world. He is currently with the English department at Indiana (Pa.) University and is known for sharing his experience and love of God as manifest in the Holy Bible. For information, call 724-526-5619.

Covenant PresbyOn Sunday, the Rev. Dr. James Swanson, church pastor, will present a program on his recent 10-day visit to the People's Republic of China to the Seekers Class of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. The class meets at 9:30 a.m. in the Assembly Room.The church will present its Lenten Easter Concert at 3 p.m. April 8 in the sanctuary. The early Music Ensemble Alle Psallite will present a program of medieval and renaissance music and soprano Sara Giallombardo, a Butler native and winner of the 2001 Pittsburgh Civic Artist Competition, will present a vocal program. The public is invited. An offering will be collected and a reception will follow in the Assembly Room.

Faith FellowshipA chili cookoff will be held after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive, Center Township. Chili and soup will be available.

Faith U.P.Acatered fellowship meal will be held after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 E. North St., Center Township. Cost is $6/adults, $3/chidlren in elementary school and free for preschool-age children.

First U.M.The youth of First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., will present a Mystery Dinner Theater Program at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.Orders are now being taken for Easter Lilies. Cost is $6.75 per order and flowers may be taken home following the Easter Sunday service on April 16. All orders are due April 9.The annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held on April 8. A free breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m. in Epworth Center. Aseries of games will follow the breakfast.

Grace @ CalvaryA youth concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the youth center at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St. Bands playing will be Death Follows Daybreak, Fear Takes Flight, Ahimsa Sunrise, Dead & Dishonest and Missing Since November. Cost is $7.A bus trip has been planned Saturday to see a passion play presented by the Coudersport Consistory. Adinner will follow the 3 p.m. play. The bus leaves the Butler Motor Tours parking lot for Coudersport at 10 a.m. Participants should take a bagged lunch with them. Cost for the bus, play and dinner is $35. Coffee and donuts will be served at 9:30 a.m.The GraceWay Adult Bible Study will start a new study that addresses the ways God works in our world at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Rocky Mountain Deli, Main Street. Hill U.P.The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at weekend services of the Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The Memorial Ringers will play at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.Easter flowers to decorate the chancel may be ordered at the cost of $7 per plant. Choices include tulips, lilies and hyacinths and may be given in honor or in memory of loved ones. Deadline to order is April 9.Dress rehearsals for the Palm Sunday cantata will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 6 and 3:30 p.m. April 8.Per capita payments for 2006 are still being accepted. North Main Street Church of GodAn offering for the Western Pennsylvania Church of God Ministry Center will be collected during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Slippery Rock U.M.Bring a Friend to Church Sunday will be observed Sunday at Slippery Rock United Methodist, Franklin and Maple streets, Slippery Rock.The cantata "More Than Just a Man" will be performed at 7 p.m. April 7 and 11 a.m. April 9.

Trinity LutheranThe Lord's Supper will be shared at the 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township.Members of the First Holy Communion Class will gather to bake bread that will be used on Maundy Thursday, when children who participate in the class will receive their first Holy Communion. There is no age requirement for receiving Communion. If you feel your child is ready to receive the sacrament, call the church office at 724-287-1977. We ask that at least one parent be present for the class.Lost and Found, a Christian band, will be perform April 9 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freedom. The cost for the ticket is $8 per person plus your dinner. A group will be leaving Trinity at 1:30 p.m. and will have dinner on the way back. Asign-up sheet is posted on the youth bulletin board.

Trinity PresbyBaked goods for Meals on Wheels will be received Sunday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler Township. Volunteers should take items wrapped for freezing and marked with content. Donations will also be needed for April 23. A sign-up sheet is in the narthex.The Ruth Circle has changed its lunch meeting place for Monday to the Villa Grande Restaurant. The group will return to the church for their meeting and Bible study on the book of Ruth, led by Audrey Kennedy.There will be a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 13 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Church members who plan to donate should call Margaret Morrison so blood bank personnel know how many donors to expect.Tax-deductible contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association are being accepted through April 5 for bail for Brenda to get her out of the lockup as their fund-raising event.

West Sunbury U.P.The Hurricane Mission Team will lead the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, 215 East Church St., West Sunbury. A DVD of the group's recent trip will be shown before the service. Team members are urged to wear their Presbyterian Disaster shirts to the service.A covered dish luncheon will be held after the service for all who have visited Slidell and those interested in participating in the June trip.
