St. Gregory handles growth
ZELIENOPLE — Students coming back into school at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church after Christmas break this year found construction on their school entirely finished.
The $4.2 million project, which more than doubled the amount of space in the school, was finished after just a year of construction, said Mary Ann Nock, the school's principal.
"I'm surprised they did it as quickly as they did," said Nock, of the construction by Landau Construction of Wexford.
The addition includes four classrooms, a kindergarten and preschool room, a computer room, a science room, an art room and a library, a gym/auditorium combination and new school offices.
"I'm extremely pleased with the amount of space," said Nock, who added the expansion also helps the parish.
This space became necessary because during the past 10 years the number of students attending the school has doubled. It now enrolls 210 students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
