Concordia Lutheran Ministries

We welcome you to explore the rehabilitation services available at several of our facilities in the Concordia Lutheran Ministries system.

We are pleased to announce a private unit specially designed for restorative care at Concordia at Rebecca Residence in Allison Park as well as those in Lund and Oertel Care Centers in Cabot.

According to statistics, more than half a million Americans have total hip or knee replacement surgery every year. While many of these procedures were performed on older individuals, more than 50,000 individuals under age 65 had a hip or knee joint replaced.

More than 50 highly qualified professionals at Concordia are licensed to treat a broad range of conditions caused by strokes, sports-related injuries, arthritis, joint replacement, wound care, back injuries, urinary incontinence, fractures, muscle strains and sprains.

These customized programs include exercise and behavioral changes to facilitate a patient's return to home.

Concordia's therapy department affords a seamless transition as the patient enters into various levels of care from skilled to assisted living to home. Our therapists are in close communication discussing the needs and characteristics of their clients as they move through the continuum.

In addition to the compassionate care and professional expertise of our staff, Concordia offers specialized equipment to aid in the process. Robust inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services include water therapy through a hydraulic pool using state-of-the-art equipment will be available in the Lund Care Center Expansion by the fall of this year, a type of therapy that no other area facility offers.

Concordia Therapy is on the cutting edge of service with its Pre-surgical Consults program. With physician's orders, the pre-surgical consult begins with a visit by a physical therapist in the patient's home for an educational session and safety evaluation.

By providing this visit prior to surgery, the therapist can suggest assistive devices or additional services the patient may need to coordinate for the discharge to home. They will discuss exercises before and after surgery as well as begin to alleviate apprehension of either the rehabilitation or surgical processes.

There is great comfort once the patient knows that everything is "in place" upon return home. Patients can request this service through their surgeon and there is no fee for the visit.

Our rehabilitation services are designed to get you back to your daily routine through a coordinated care plan and are covered by most government and private insurances.

Nicholas Reiser, DPT, director, and his staff look forward to serving you in the fine tradition Concordia's name brings to quality health care.
