Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course and Club

Keeping Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course in shape are from left, George, John and Eva Aubrey.

A lot is new at the Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course and Club with the new membership drive, clubhouse and changes to the golf course. It's an exciting time for the golfers and members backed by the Aubrey Family tradition of golf for the last five decades in Butler County.

George Aubrey Jr. said the Aubreys plan to continue the family tradition of golf that began with a vision by George Aubrey Sr. and Eva Aubrey in the early 1960s.

After the death of George Aubrey Sr. in 1974, George Jr. designed the back nine and changed a few holes on the front nine. George and his brother John, a prominent Senior PGA club professional, physically constructed the additional golf holes while their mother, Eva, maintained the clubhouse facility.

Eva Aubrey, famous in her own right with early day Hollywood connections and modeling in the fashion world, has been a "golf mum" for most of her career and is still active with the club.

George Aubrey Jr. is a life member of the Professional Golfers Association and began his career at Tamcrisk Golf Club in Palm Springs, Calif., and the Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla., before retiring from golf in 1974. He currently owns and operates a real estate holding and insurance and securities brokerage firm. Aubrey Financial Services Inc. is at 340 N. Main S., Butler.

John Aubrey, current head professional at Dubbs Dred Golf Course, is one of the top Senior Club Professionals in the United States. John was Tri-State PGA "Senior Player of the Year" for four consecutive years and has qualified and participated in six major championships on the Senior PGA Tour (four Senior PGA Championships and two Senior National Opens).

The membership campaign, "Join the A List," is one of the best values in the Tri-State area for golf. Individual memberships begin at $59 per month on an annual basis. There are husband and wife, family, and corporate/business memberships available.

Memberships include unlimited golf on the course, a locker, USGA Handicap System, discounts on golf carts, food and beverages, merchandise, special rates for meeting rooms and golf outings. Many companies buy corporation memberships, which have tax advantages and are a great way to do business.

The new clubhouse has added that extra spark and a perfect spot to relax with family, friends and informal business meals. The beauty is that this golf retreat is minutes from downtown Butler off Mercer Road.

Members also have a variety of tournaments throughout the year for men, women, seniors and juniors.

There will be several open houses to kick off the season and the membership drive. This will run through April. Win free golf passes, refreshments and meet the pro.
