Butler Police7:23 p.m. Friday — Schuyler Charles Kempson, 22, of Butler was cited for retail theft after allegedly shoplifting $54.57 worth of food from the Shop 'n Save on Pullman Square. Store manager John Barley told police he chased Kempson after the shopper left with unpaid items in a bag brought inside. Barley recovered the stolen items. Barley recognized Kempson because he submitted a job application to the store the week before. After police told Kempson's girlfriend, they were looking for him, Kempson turned himself in at the police station.2:21 a.m. Friday — Paula Moore, 35, of Lyndora was charged with driving under the influence and not driving on the right side of the road following a traffic stop on Pillow Street.

State Police, Butler6:30 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Brian McCandless, 18, of West Sunbury struck a car driven by Dawn Riding, 37, of Butler that was stopped at a stop sign on North Duffy Road in Center Township. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were not injured. McCandless was cited for failing to stop.10:05 a.m. Friday — An SUV driven by Emily Osche, age unavailable, of Butler was traveling on Sunmine Road in Clinton Township when the vehicle rolled over. Osche, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. She was cited for failing to drive a vehicle at a safe speed.Thursday — A 13-year-old male student at Slippery Rock Middle School was charged with drug possession after school officials found him with a small amount of marijuana.Friday — A Saxonburg man reported finding a dead groundhog and a threatening note in his mailbox on Golden City Road in Jefferson Township between 5:30 p.m. Thursday and 5:45 p.m. Friday. The victim's name is being withheld.
