11:24 a.m. Thursday—Acar driven by Benjamin Shultz, 32, of East Brady, Clarion County, and a mini-van driven by Korrin Ferguson, 22, of Pittsburgh collided on East Jefferson Street.March 16—Tina Kidd, 39, of Butler was charged with writing four bad checks that were passed Jan. 15, 16, 18, and 20 at Friedman's market on West Brady Street. The four checks, which totaled $398.09, were written on an account that had insufficient funds.March 16—Shawn Kennedy, 32, of Butler was charged with writing a bad check passed to Friedman's market on Jan. 30. The check for $129.86 was written on a closed account.
2:14 p.m. March 9 — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 68 and Hartmann Road.Police said Shirley J. Marburger, 62, of Evans City pulled from Hartmann Road onto Route 68 into the path of a vehicle driven by Timothy Craig Waits, 42, of Ann Arbor, Mich.Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. Marburger was cited for failing to obey a stop or yield sign.The injured were taken by Harmony EMS to UPMC Passavant-Cranberry Hospital and Allegheny General Hospital.Marburger had complained of neck and stomach pain, while Waits complained of neck and back pain.A passenger in Waits' vehicle, Corey Bittel, 29, of Freedom, Beaver County, sustained a cut to the forehead and was also taken for treatment.A second passenger in Waits' vehicle, Marilyn Waits, no age available, of Evans City was not injured.2:09 a.m. March 9 — Richard Stanley Kasha, 44, of Zelienople was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police witnessed the driver's vehicle straddling the fog line on Route 19 near Northgate Plaza.The traffic stop was conducted at the 7-Eleven store in Zelienople. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was later taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for blood analysis.1:27 a.m. March 8 — Barry Leasher, 42, of Harmony was charged with driving under the influence after police witnessed him driving in the center of the roadway on Lutz Road and Route 19.The driver failed field sobriety tests and was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for blood analysis.2:21 a.m. March 7 — Michelle Christine Miller, 23, of Harmony, was arrested on driving under the influence charges following a traffic stop on Route 68. Police had allegedly witnessed the driver cross the center line of the roadway.
6 p.m. Thursday—A16-year-old Butler boy, who police did not identify, was arrested for allegedly shoplifting $163 in merchandise from the JCPenney store at Clearview Mall in Center Township. The boy was charged in juvenile court with retail theft.Thursday—AHonda TRX400EXall-terrain vehicle was stolen between 8:30 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. from a car port at the Spithaler School Road home of Shawn Covert in Forward Township.Thursday—Four Stihl chainsaws were stolen from a shed in a burglary between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday at the Wayne Avenue home of Matthew Lauer in Parker, Armstrong County.The saws — two 20-inch, one 24-inch and one 18-inch — are valued at $2,200.9 p.m. Wednesday—John Baer, 46, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 in Franklin Township. He also faces charges of careless driving and failing to stay in his lane of traffic.1:35 p.m. Wednesday—Asport utility vehicle driven by Charles McWilliams, 79, of Slippery Rock and a van driven by Linda Adams, 35, of New Castle collided at Route 8 and Boyers Road in Mercer Township.McWiliams, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated for a minor facial injury at Grove City Medical Center. Adams, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor leg injury and was treated at the scene.Wednesday—Jeffrey Dunn said his 2000 Dodge Durango was stolen overnight from the driveway of his Smith Road home in Jefferson Township. The vehicle is blue with yellow bat decals on the rear window and mismatched front and rear tires.2:15 a.m. March 11—Acar driven by Adam Weilacher, no age given, of Union City struck a drainage ditch and tree along Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Weilacher fled the crash site but was later found. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions and failure to immediately notify police of an accident.
